Music gets animated

Some of the UK’s most exciting animation is being produced for music Videos. Richard Kenworthy’s Shynola operation leads the way with its animated films for the likes of Grooverider, Quannum Project and Morgan. Want to know how Shynola produces those fantastic images? Well, Kenworthy and his crew are coming to Edinburgh to reveal all in a Mirrorball Reel Life masterclass (Filmhouse l, 23 Aug, 7pm). There’s also a retrospective of Shynola’s work, Mirrorball: Animated (Filmhouse 2, 22 Aug, 5.30pm). Other Mirrorball events in the same week include the best of lo-fi filmmaking, Shots (programme 1, Filmhouse 2, 17 Aug, 10.30pm, programme 2, Filmhouse 2, 18 Aug, 8pm), and films by the top stills photographers of New York and Paris-based outfit Lighthouse (programme 1, Filmhouse 3, 19 Aug, 6pm; programme 2, Filmhouse 2,20 Aug, 8.30pm).
