Building Scotland: Building Debate Until Sat 2 Sep. Building Scotland, a book by architects Alan Reiach and Robert Hurd published back in 1943, focused on the state of architecture at the time. The general consensus, endorsed by the Secretary of State, was that modernism was the way forward. In a show curated and designed by Oliver Chapman Associates, six architects reveal their thoughts on the way modern challenges should be tackled through images, audio-visual presentation, models and texts.

East 0 Eden Scotland’s only mobile art gallery goes on tour with a new exhibition of work by Paul Carter and Kate Gray. Exploring notions of the search for identity and meaning, Gray creates large photographs displayed in light boxes and kinetic video sculptures and Carter constructs an installation including an extraterrestrial radio- scanner and a camera surveillance of the sky. The gallery will be stopping off at various Edinburgh venues from until Fri 18 Aug.
