GREAT LYNCH MUSICAL mm

Min Peaks

The ethereal theme tune. playing over an image of dead Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) wrapped in plastic. was sung by a breathless Julie Cruise. Who had a powerful, full singing voice. It was Angelo Badalamenti who coached the high tones out of Cruise.

Blue Velvet

Dressed in drag. Ben (Dean Stockwell) performs the Roy Orbison classic ‘In Dreams' to a clearly perturbed Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan) and very disturbed Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper).

“Min Peaks: Fire Walk With Me

Laura Palmer (Lee again) takes school pal Donna Hayward (Moira Kelly) to the local “club. which is in fact a brothel. In this extended scene their dialogue is all but obliterated by the awesome feedback dirge played by a ‘cowboy band’ (subtitles were added for the film's American release).

Wild At Heart

Despite a broken nose. Sailor (Nicolas Cage) serenades and wins back the love of Lula (Laura Dern) with the Elvis Presley song, ‘Love Me Tender'.

Eraserhead

Lynch’s feature debut, pre- Badalamenti. features the remarkably bizarre (even by Lynch standards) Lady In The Radiator (Laurel Near) singing the sweet ditty, ‘In Heaven’. The tune was covered by the Pixies. who regularly gave it a good thrashing live.

Lost Highway

Bill Pullman picks up the sax0phone on a couple of occasions as Fred Madison, the man who suffers the mother of all breakdowns. something clearly signalled by his wild blowing on the reed.
