FRINGE SWEAT-O-METER

On the streets. the temperature is the usual Arctic Scottish summer chill. Inside. it's a different matter. The mercury bubbles out of thermometers and sweat drips off ceilings. And that's just the box offices. We name the hottest venues in town.

FULL BODY WET PATCHES

Balcony Bar, Cllded Balloon Tevlot One performer was seen with sweat soaking thr0ugh a cord jacket. Sitting next to an R2- 02 Sized air conditioner made no difference: on a half-full night. you Wlll leave with scoping hair and shortness of breath.

Pleasance Below More unpleasant than a full-body seaweed wrap with heated blankets.

The Stand 2

By the end of the show the performers are dripping. shirts sticking to their backs. the kids are nodding off and you feel quite ill.

The Ca Studio

YOur bathroom is probably bigger than this space. but that doesn‘t stop them cramming up to 60 people in there. And they all need to breathe.

mm PERSPIRATION

PIeaeance Dome 8

The ceiling in this little hole is so low that the performers risk bumping their heads. Is it cornCidence that such a low-status corner is where they put the kids' shows?

Underbel

The drips in front of the stage cause

performer James Campbell to explain: 'This

isn't a leak. it's your own sweat condensing

and dripping back on y0u.' The hanging wires. uneven floors and damp and dingy ambience add to that feeling of danger.

DAM

Gllded Balloon Caves The constant dripping of water makes you vent to go to the torlet five minutes into the show, But who could live wrthout that OdOur of mossrpenSioner/bi'ick?

EH

The Corn Exchange

Not cold. as such. but absolutely no atmosphere. Painted to look like the set of Porridge. A concrete box where even the bands get depressed.
