A returning hero as Rebel Waltz take on Funkeymagic
The Funkeymagic crew give their regular party a Spanish twist this month as ex-pat spinner Murray Richardson returns to the capital for a Hoffbeat Festival special. It's been five years since Richardson set up the seminal Rebel Waltz night at the City Cafe. helping to introduce Britain‘s ears to the deep house sound. Since then. he's defected to the sunnier climes of Barcelona. where the Spanish have greeted him - and
Rebel Waltz — with open arms.
The monthly shindig is going from strength to strength. with guests such as Tronicsole‘s Chris Harris & Milton Jackson and Germany's DJ Linus joining Murray and fellow resident Stuart Patterson (of the Social fame) behind the decks in the coming months. But for now. Richardson and Patterson are on the road. spreading the Rebel Waltz deep house
gospel across Europe.
It‘s the Scottish dates (there‘s also a night at Glasgow’s Liquid Lounge) that are getting them fired up though. As Murray says: 'I‘m really looking forward to hitting Scotland again. especially as I‘m bringing Rebel Waltz back to Edinburgh. the city where it all started off. And hooking up with the Funkeymagic crew while the festival is on means it‘s going to be an absolute belter.‘ (Darren Watt)
