Kelly Apter highlights some of the best kids shows in the Fringe’s first week

ALBEE VECTOR THE SOUND COLLECTOR

Last year, this imaginative show from Greenlight Theatre was in the Free Fringe, hoping somebody would spot how good it is. Happily, they did and Albee’s adventure with a sound-collecting vacuum cleaner is back, better than ever. Pleasance Courtyard, 556 6550, 8–31 Aug (not 18), 11.10am, £8–£10 (£7–£9). Previews 5–7 Aug, £6.

ALFIE WHITE: SPACE EXPLORER You’ve seen them deliver The Gruffalo: Room on the Broom and other top shows, now take a punt on Tall Stories’ new, entirely original work about a young boy fascinated by space travel, but missing his dad. See preview, page 59. Pleasance Courtyard, 556 6550, 7–30 Aug (not 19), 2.05pm, £8–£9 (£7–£8). Previews 5 & 6 Aug, £6.

CHICKEN LICKEN AND THE LITTLE RED HEN

THE HISTORY OF MUSIC From cavemen banging bones on the floor to modern-day compositions, this lively and fun look at musical history is delivered by award-winning Canadian group, Buzz Brass.
