SWEETEN THE DEAL Our annual shout-out for bribes got under way a few weeks ago cos we like to get in early with our (defi nitely legal) doings. The fi rst Bribe of the Week for 2016 combines some of our favourite things: poetry and dodgy sweets. Yes, we will gorge ourselves on out- of-date, half-eaten banana Twinkies cos that’s how low we journalists sometimes sink. Anyway, they were from Beattie & Scratchmann, whose show Edinburgh in the Shadows #2 takes you down the dark side streets of our fair city via storytelling and spoken word. ■ Edinburgh in the Shadows #2, Cowgatehead, 6pm, 18–27 Aug, 6pm, free.
