QUEEN'S HALL/USHER HALL Midweek and Saturdays October-April 7.45 pm

CITY HALL

Fridays and Sundays October-April 7.30 pm

Recognised around the World as one of the outstanding orchestral ensembles, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra has delighted audiences both in Scotland and abroad for the last 13 years. Its 37 members, many of them soloists in their own right, play together as one, creating a warm and intimate sound.

'The finest young orchestra I have worked with“ Sir Michael Tippett

M

An Operatic Gala with Dame Joan Sutherland making her first British concert performances for 5 years; Christmas with The King’s Singers, Pinchas Zukerman playing the Beethoven Violin Concerto and an evening with Stuart Burrows. These are just some of the highlights in a season that also marks a new era for the SCO—our first season with new Principal Conductor, Jukka-Pekka Saraste. Providing a back—cloth to this rich tapestry of music and artists are the familiar masterpieces, many of Mozart’s best-loved symphonies, his Serenade for 13 Wind Instruments (of 'Amadeus' fame). Beethoven’s Symphonies Nos. 3 'Eroica', 4 and 7, Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture and Scotch Symphony and Dvorak’s Serenade for Strings.
