Almost, as they say, a legend in her own liletime, Dame Joan Sutherland makes her lirst British concert appearances in live years with the 800 as they open their 87/88 season. Reading her potted biography (which, interestingly enough, seems to stop in 1979) it seems there's no major role she hasn't sung and no major opera house in the world she hasn't sung in.
