This sounds like the answer to a hassled parent's dream: a place to leave the children playing happily while you get on with some serious Christmas shopping. lfyou have a child aged between 7 and 12 years and are wondering how to occupy him/her during late night or Saturday shoppingon Dec 15 or 17. book theminto one of these workshops. They are being run by David Swift. whose exhibition. Heavenly Bodies and Fabulous Beasts. is currently on show at the Collins until December 23. together with a Christmas Craft Show so you might be able to pick up a few more presents when you go to collect the kids. There is a charge for the workshops of £1 to cover cost of materials.

I GEORGE SQUARE

Christmas in George Square December 19-23. George Square will be the place to be during the week running up to Christmas when Glasgow District Council turn it into ‘the world's biggest advent calendar‘. Festivities start on Dec 19. 6pm. when a huge Christmas cake. all three metres of it. explodes with whistles. silver fountains. Chinese crackers. balloons and music. Adding to the spectacle will be street performers. bands. choirs and a laser light show. projecting slides onto the City Chambers. And the building will be transformed into a huge civic calendar when panels. specially designed by school children from all over Glasgow are placed over the windows and lit up. Events will continue all week with chairs and bands playing every evening 6—8pm. street performers and laser shows. One of the most imaginative events will be
