EDINBURGH NEWS

While most of the current excitement obviously surrounds the Slam/Schlitz tour which has dates at Freedom Express on 7 July and Metro at Calton Studios on the following night (See feature), elsewhere, the less monied end of the Edinburgh scene drives on with the search for decent venues becoming even more hectic.

Hades, the glam/alternative club which ran at Fresh above the Waterloo Bar, has now moved to the White Swan in Haymarltet on Saturdays. Oddly enough despite this cellar being an intimate and way above average venue by local standards, no club has ever achieved real success here. However, the Hades team have a lair degree of organisational suss not to mention an eye-damaging set of dayglo posters ready to appear. So far, minor problems have occured with baby goths sullting because the music extends beyond solid Sisters and Bauhaus but it looks as if common sense and open minds will win the day. Go along and treat yourself to the novelty of a Saturay well away from the Cowgate.
