I Horse Trials Eglinton. Barskimming Estate. Mauchline. Ayrshire. A British Horse Society one-day event. with dressage. show-jumping and cross-country being the elements. There is every chance that Ian Stark (Silver medallist at Seoul) and Lorna Clarke (a reserve in the Olympic team) might attend to compete in the advanced class in preparation for the 3-day Horse Trials at Chatsworth. Badminton and Burghley (venue for this year's European Championship).

Having switched from the British League to the National League. this will be the Witches‘ first visit to Shawfield. In their squad. there are two young riders who are tipped as future world champions. Chris Louis and Mark Loram.

I Edinburgh Belmont Monarchs v Glasgow Tigers Powderhall Stadium. Beavcrhali Road. Edinburgh. 7.15pm. When the 88 Scottish Cup was abandoned due to bad weather last season. it necessitated the fixture being run at the beginning ofthis season (with the Monarchs victorious. 106-86). Unfortunately. some ofthe press assumed that the tie represented the 89 Cup match. thus confusing an already mystified public. The second part ofthis two-leg match takes place in two days time.
