SUMMER or THE LOVECLUB

Al Peggy Sue’s, 46 West George Street, Glasgow.

Remember ‘46 West', the venue that brought us Splash 1, Texas Fever and the Kangaroo Club? Now comes Loveclub, a brand new night on Tuesdays at the sell same place, aimed at Glasgow's groovier tellows.

Whilst Sixties-inspired, the club promises to be iar more than revivalist, with music ranging lrom Burt Bacharach and Scott Walker to Edwyn Collins and Felt.

Downstairs at the now renamed ‘Peggy Sue’s', Loveclub will be attempting to employ the medium oi video a little more imaginatively than Tin Pan Alley and their ilk. Could be a lirst and should, in any case, prove interesting. Hopelully the Loveclub will provide a lresh alternative to the rather staid and olten packed Shimmy Club at Bennet's on a Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, the luture oi two at Glasgow’s best clubs, ‘Blackmarket’ and ‘Hustle’ seems to be a little luzzy to say the least, now that the SubClub is back open. All that can be said ior the moment (without risking an ass-whapping) is that ‘Blackmarket’ is still at Fury Murry's on Thursdays and ‘Joy' has returned to the Subclub’s Friday night slot. Watch the billboards tor news at ‘Hustle' and its whereabouts. (Danny Lee)
