SCOTTISH BALLET

Bun ended.

Of the three parts of their varied programme, the Scottish Ballet shone most in the traditional Divertissements, adopted from the Kirov Ballet repertoire. Earlier, Peter Darrell’s The Prisoners suffered from stilled choreography, which was only given real depth by Judy Mohekey, who set alive the production. The final offering, Petrushlta, was encumbered by distracting costumes and an inordinate number of dancers forthe rather cramped stage. The performance would take off for a few moments and then become diluted by a wash of bodies. However in the last minutes, as the dancers stripped off their fussy costmes, the ballet began, literally, to take shape, resulting in a triumphant finale. (Jo Boe)
