FEATURE LIST
In the next 12 months, Glasgow will be required to rise to the challenge of its role as European City
of Culture. The List approached administrators and performers to ask them what they will be doing in 1990. and whether it was a good idea in the first place.

be doing Killing Me Softly again. We :
now do the performance. a discussion. an HIV workshop and show a video. It‘s grown into much more of an education package. Then we‘re doing the second part of my trilogy. the first part ofwhich was Can Ye Sew Cushions, that goes on a community tour of Glasgow finishing with its first theatre performance at the Glasgow‘s Glasgow exhibition. Lambs ofGod is our Mayfest production, which I’m very excited about. It‘s an original Glasgow Unity production that hasn‘t been performed professionally since 1948. We‘ve got

founded our company on the aims and aspirations oftheirs. It forges much closer links and it means that they can get back their original parts that they played as young women and they‘re now the right age for them. That‘s the biggy. but it‘s Arts

we didn‘t want to get into the arena—l of having to vie with other 1990 products. Towards the end of the year we‘ll be doing the final part of my trilogy. Our priority was to go back and serve the audiences who have made the company strong. 1990 is our opportunity to give something back to the communities who have supported us in the past even when
they have been hard pushed for money. ; Clyde Unity Theatre will be touring
extensively in 1990.

I always think of it like a guy in Holland said to me. y‘know he said that they were looking for a few surprises from Glasgow and there has to be. From my point of view it will be surprises all the way and that‘s fine. It is a wee bit nebulous what everyone‘s doing. I know the Festival‘s Unit are beavering away. one can just hope that what they‘re beavering at comes off. I‘m hopeful ofdoing a few things— one is a spire in the Science Park and there's the possibility ofanother love affair with
