CLUBS

GLASGOW Fridays I Delirium 7 at Rooftops(Secrets Lounge). llpm—late. £2.50. Okay. okay. so it's not gothic! With a playlist ranging from The Pixies to Front 242. let's just say traditional alternative. I Joy at the Sub Club. 11pm—5am. £3.50.

5 Upfront dance and the latest ofit . house.

hippety-hoppety and techno. Hugely popular.

I The Lab at The Champion. 11.30—5am. £3.50(£2.50with pass).

Hip-hop and soul. dance and house in newish Champion showcase.

I Radio City at the Mayfair (Cameo Suite). 10.30pm—3am. £2. Whetherit‘s moving with the times or jumping on the bandwagon. Radio City has certainly changed a lot: no longer purely 60s. they now cater for the Manchester posse and even play straight dance records like Chad Jackson. The towering temperatures and boorish bouncers are unfortunate minuscs to an otherwise fine club. but definitely worth a visit for surprise value.

I Rumble at Joe Paparazzi. 10pm—3.30am. £3 (£1 student). Laying down a good claim to having the best dancers in Glasgow. Rumble certainly has some of the best dance sounds. an eclectic and often surprising mix. Be warned though all-night sitters-in-the-corner maybe somewhat unamused as the emphasis is definitely on rocking your body and doing your own thang on the dance floor (to coin a phrase).

I Shag at Fury Murray's. [lpm—5am. £2.50. It‘s not so much the music theyplay at Shag that make it what it is. it‘sthe people who go: unafraid to tapdance badly during Singing In The Rain or pretend to play cricket during Soul Clap ()9. My personal faves are the lovely couple who go regularly and have their own. highly personal. dance routines toThe Housemartins. . . tacky butsweet.

I The Tunnel llpm—4am. £5. Soul Kitchen night. as inherited from '1 he Choice: soul. club classics. northern soul. for a slightly older crowd.
