I Savouma Stevenson's Tweed Journey Assembly Rooms. George Street. 228 1155. £5 (£3.50). 8pm. Originallya traditional folk musician. and presented here under a World Music banner by the indefatigable Fiona McAllister. harpist Savourna Stevenson earns a slot in this listing by virtue of her now emphatic use of both rhythmic and melodic material which clearly derives from jazz. played on a specially adapted harp which she developed with her harp-maker husband Mark (sounds like a damned convenient arrangement to me). The successful broadening of her musical base is evident throughout this much-admired composition. which begins with solo harp and ends up with the full seven-piece band. The recently issued recording on Eclectic Records is highly recommended. I The Peristalsis Trio The St James Oyster Bar. Calton Street. 557 2925. 9pm. Free. Swing.
