CLUBS

F GLASGOW Fridays

I Crash at the Cotton Club. 1 llpm—5.30am. £4 (£3 with ticket.£2 before midnight). Bizarre dancefloor antics— this is where all those bodypoppers from the 80s went and fairly safe but crucial rave and club sounds of the more ‘commercial' type (i.e. ‘songs’ instead of bleep-bleep-twiddle). The male patrons are quite baggy. but the females are intimidatingly glamorous. I Delirium 7 at Rooftops (Secrets Lounge). llpm—4am. £2.50. Those going upstairs to he delirious will now be escorted up in the lift. which should cut back on queuing and unwanted bouncer attention.

IJoy at the Sub Club. 11pm—5am. £3.50. L'pfront dance and the latest of it. house. hippety-hoppety and techno. Hugely popular. I Panic at Glasgow College Student L'nion. 9pm—3am. Free. Studentsand guests only. Anything from The Charlatans to The Clash with more ofan emphasis on dance music and. though the black-clad crowd still show. goth sounds are definitely minimal.

I Radio City at the Mayfair (Cameo Suite). 10.30pm—3am. £2. Sixties rock merging surprisingly well with 90s‘ rave. with the odd dance record thrown in too. And the bouncers are fearfuily nice. Honest.

I Rain 375 Sauchiehall Street. llpm—5am. £3 (£1 .50 student). Newish club. with a mysterious address and as yet something ofan unknown quantity(i.e.1haven't been yet). but they say they're playing techno (yawn). hip-hop. house and reggae wait a minute. and reggae? But drinks. however. are only £1 each. so it’s worth a look. I Rumble at Joe Paparazzi.

10pm—3.30am. £3 (£1 student). Laying down a good claim to have the best dancers in Glasgow. Rumble certainly has some of the best dance sounds. an eclectic and often surprising mix. I Shag at Fury Murrys. l 1pm—5am. £2.50. Watch the flying drinks. watch the Clangcrs videos. watch people freaking out to Deee-Lite and miming to ‘1 Will Survive'. I Three Amigos at Tin Pan Alley. llpm—latc. £4 (£1 .50 with leaflet). Dance classics. from ABC to the lnspiralCarpets and you can't get much more different than those two bands. can you. especially sartorially (and talent-wise too. really).
