I Hairy Cafe Coste. 10pm—2am. Free. A pre—club club organised by the owners of this laid—back bar. and run by DJ Carol. formerly of Spanish Harlem and Infinity. The emphasis is fixed firmly on fun. with an eclectic playlist incorporating a wide

spectrum of dance sounds. and attracting a

large and lively crowd.

I Floral Riot Network 2. 10.30pm-~4am. £2. Experience an explosion ofsonic flower grooves at Edinburgh‘s busiest and best indie club. Go and flop your fringes to the likes of Flowered Up (geddit'?) and other young pretenders. plus all those old alternative faves. 1 could make loadsof horticultural jokes here (what a bunch of weeds. etc). but lwon‘t.

I Marleys Shady Lady’u‘s. 10.30pm—3am. £2. Living up to the name with a reggae night. ofcourse. Not the only club playing this musical genre at the moment. but by far the longest running.

I Pure The Venue. 11pm—4am. Members and guests only. No undesirables. no hassles. no admission until you complete a membership form and have a polaroid pic taken. No relation to Danny Rampling‘s club with the same name by the way. but a force to be reckoned with nevertheless. Well at least their 1500 members think so. I Rush Calton Studios. llpm—4am. £5. A new night promising ‘dance music‘. Very specific. lads. They do tell me that the Dream Warriors will be appearing on 8 March though. so that‘s something to go along for.

I Zebedee Calton Studios. 11pm-4am. £5. Another new Calton Studios club. this time playing the Stones. Velvet Underground and the like.

I Tangerine The Mission. 1 1pm—3am. £2. A flourishing indie club. playing a solid selection of all the stuff you‘d expect. Not so busy as F. Riot. but a viable option if you can‘t drag yourself all the way to Tollcross.

I Beathox and Strangeways Teviot Row Union. 8pm—1am. Students and guests only. The biggest and busiest of the city's union discos. boasting huge attendance figures for these two Friday night clubs.
