Allan Campbell spins his discs

A ‘random sample at LP and single tracks for this week’, chosen by Allan “The Duke' Campbell. Listen out tor him on Radio Forth RFM 97.3, every Sunday 7-10pm.

1. Young Black Teenagers: Punks, Lies And Videotape (MCA/SOUL LP track) Not black, not teenage and reeking ol hype, but primed to blow up in a big way with the assistance at Hank

Shocklee and The Bomb Squad.

2. Snacks Eaglin: Funky Malaguena (Sonet, Legacy or The Blues series LP track) Warm, Crescent City acoustic blues shot through with flamenco stylings.

3. Shabba Banks: Trailer Load 0i Girls (Epic 45) He claims to be wicked in bed

and to have put out 50 singles last year.

The king of dancehall reggae may leave a little to be desired in the lyrical department; his rhythms do not.

4. DJ Pierre presents Phantasia: Come Fly With Me (Jesse’s Hype Mix) (Jive Chicago 45) A past Chi Town anthem reworked brilliantly by another house original, Jesse Saunders. A Graeme Park remix is also available.

5. Nina Rota: Juliet 0iThe Spirits (Silva Screen LP track) Prool that Italian musicians can do betterthan produce crap disco records. Rota has scored most of Fellini’s movies since the early 508. This is from 1965.
