Glasgow

I Harry Connick Jr Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. 2 Sauchiehall Street. 3323123. 7.30pm. £13.50—£1 1.50. The ‘Sold ()ut' notice has been up on this one for weeks. 2 although there may be returnsavailable. l Connick's rise to fame was boosted immeasurany by the success of When Harry Me! Sally. and comparisons between the young singer/pianist and the likes of Sinatra and Nat Cole probably haven‘t hurt either. This is Harry‘sfirst Scottish visit. and he has brought an orchestra with him for good measure. Prepare to be seduced. f I Craig McMurdo and That Swing Thang l Motherwell Theatre. Motherwell. 7.30pm. £3.50 (£2.50). By coincidence. Scotland‘s very own answer to I larry Connick is in action down the road in Lanarkshire. albeit in slightly less

salubrious surroundings. Stylistically they

are very different. especially in the context j of That Swing Thang's raunchyjump-jive; the implicit comparison becomes more meaningful when Craig gets up in front of the occasional big band he fronts. but their charts need considerable more zing.

I Three‘s a Crowd Johnny Scobie‘s.
