LARK IN THE PARK

There’s something strangely appropriate about a deodorant company sponsoring a mass sports event. Right Guard have done the decent thing and stumped up the cash lor the Sport Festival taking place in Strathclyde Park on Sunday 2 June, as part oi the Sports Council's Year 01 Sport activities. An estimated 120,000 people are expected to attend, and hopetully work up a sweat by

with support trom live district councils in addition to the Right Guard sponsorship. The aim is to encourage people to try out new sports, especially some of the more exotic ones. Some 01 the sports on display include parascending, volleyball, martial arts, orienteerlng, skiing and windsurling, as well as the more orthodox tennis, hockey and gait, with opportunities for participation applying to the disabled as well as the able-bodied.

The 2000-acre park will be transtormed into an enormous sporting arena, and the loch will be packed with over 250 boats providing tacilities tor sailing, rowing, yachting, waterskilng

- : and canoeing.Additionalattractions
