TURNTABLE

This issue Marc John Carapiet who, along with Andy Gaillie, DJs at Superfly at Fury Murry's on Thursdays choses live tracks guaranteed to have toes tapping and feet shuttling at this increasingly popular club. As Marc’s record selection shows Supertly specialises in rare groove, reggae, funk, disco and soul. 80 here goes. . .

1. Tommy Hunt: You Got Me Where You Want Me Now (Spark). Classic Northern monster from the catacombs to Wigan Casino from the main man with over 30 years in the business. Keep the faith!

2. D’Jays: Love Train (CBS). Afirm favourite in dance music, it was hard to pick one fave D‘Jays number, but it had to be this anthem.

3. Eddie Holman: I Surrender (ABC). Another scorcher from the Northern scene, Holman’s pleading vocals combined with a pounding backbeat

i make this a killer.

; 4. Lee Perry and the Upsetters: The

l Vampire (Upsetter). A quick side step to the ska scene and the glorious instrumental features some of the sharpest keyboards of the late 60s.

5. Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons: The Night (Tamla Motown). A little-known classic (except for soul freaks), this criminally ignored track is missing from most of their compilation LPs. Haunting intro, building up to a storming finale. Defies anyone to stay on their seat. Simply wonderful.
