I Anton Mosirnann - Naturally: Picnic (Channel 4) 8.3(l—9pm. The rolling Swiss today tackles easy-to-prepare dishes for al fresco eating in the final programme ofthe series.

I Casualty (BBCl ) 9.3(l—1l).2(lpm. llolby I General this week has to cope with an emergency amputation (what. another one? The studio must be littered with severed limbs). while Duffy has boyfriend pressures.

I Dream On (Channel 4) ll)—l(l.35pm. Martin phones up a chat-line and ends up trying to talk a woman out of suicide. Just another evening in sitcom land.

I Omnibus: Pornography ( BBCI) 10.20-11.10pm. An attempt to spark off debate about the pornography industry by presenting the experiences ofwomen working within it. The documentary is presented from the viewpoint ofAndrea Dworkin. the radical feminist whose books on pornography have presented it as part of a system oftcchnologised prostitution.

I The Mystery Train ( BBCZ) 11.45pm—2.()5am. Richard O‘Brien introduces another bunch of tacky horror selections including the classic movie I Was A Teenage Werewolf. the screen debut of the late Michael Landon who plays high-school student Tony. troubled by a touch of lycanthropy.

IThe Word (Channel-i)

11.15pm—12. 15am. Oh no. a new seriesof the notorious ‘yoof‘ show presented by the incomprehensible Terry Christian and the seriously gormless Amanda De Cadenet. along with the wonderfully-named new presenter Katie Puckrik. Tonight Don Johnson. Happy Mondays and Salt ‘N‘ Pepa fill in the bits between the insultsto your intelligence.

I Ring My Bell (Channel 4) 12. 15—lam. Intriguingly late slot for Laurie Pike‘s new live phone-in show. suggesting things

could get quite raunchy. See preview.

SATURDAY 26

I Rugby World Cup (Scottish) 1.55—4.45pm. Live coverage ofthe semi-final from Murrayfield. It‘s the one we‘ve been waiting for—Scotland against the Auld Enemy.

I Right To Reply (Channel 4)b.3()—7pm. Rory McGrath presents the viewer feedback show offering the TV audience a chance to take on the programme makers. I Birds OlA Feather(BB(‘1)8.()5—8.35pm. Tracey takes pity on an ex-con called Desmond who comes to stay for a couple ofdays. much to Sharon's dismay.

I The House 0t Eliott(BBC1) 8.35—9.30pm. Evangeline (Louise Lombard) is slightly miffed about the death of Sebastian in an air-crash. but hey. this is the wacky world of fashion and there's a new collection to get out. Engaging nonsense.

I Fylashdance (Scottish) 9.()5—1().5()pm. What a feeling. as they say. Jennifer Beals stars in an unlikely tale ofa welderwho becomes a dancing star.

I Perlorrnance: Old Times(BB(.‘2) 9.3(i—ll).50pm. When this was being filmed in Suffolk. the rumour went around that John Travolta was in the area. The locals were much dismayed to discover it was only smouldering John Malkovich. starring opposite Miranda Richardson and Kate Nelligan in an adaptation of Pinter‘s classic play dealing with power struggles within a marriage. Unsettling and intense in the Pinter tradition.

I Next Stop Hollywood: The Great O'Grady (Channel 4) 9.40—10. 15pm. The American short film series continues with Robbie Fox's poignant story of hero worship. O‘Grady is the ace athlete idolist by young Jonathan who seeks his help in wooing the prettiest girl in high school.

I Rugby World Cup (Scottish) 2—5pm. It‘s choose your favourite shape of ball time. so to speak. Do you tune in to the second rugby semi-final. or swap channels to. .. I The Sitol Cup Final (BBC 1 ) 2—5.50pm. Live coverage of the Hibs v Dunfermlinc clash at llampden Park. See Sport section preview for match details.

I The Clothes Show (BBCl ) 5 .50—6. 15pm. Trendy and witty or insulting nonsense made by the slack-brained for the slack-brained‘.’ This week it's Vivienne Westwood‘s Paris premiere. and Jason Donovan gets a restyle.

I Trainer (BBCl ) 7.45—8.35pm. Mike gets entangled with a glamorous singer. something that you‘d never catch areal trainer like Dick Hern doing. This programme‘s days are numbered.

I Madness: The Talking Cure (BBCZ) 8.10—9. 10pm. Jonathan Miller explores the basic tenets of psychoanalysis. and how they illuminate the causes and treatments of neurosis and psychosis.

I London's Burning (Scottish) 8.45—9.45pm. The Blue Watch team in more fire-fighting adventures at the London station. called in to an incident involvingschool children.

IJute City (BBCl)9.20—10.20pm. A new mystery thriller set in Dundee and the Highlands. John Sessions plays the hapless private detective called in to investigate the death_of a successful young entrepreneur and Freemason. An impressive cast includes Alan Howard. Jenny McCrindle. Billy McColl. John McGlynn and the former Vice-President of Romania. Ion Caramitru. See preview. I Rebels With A Cause: Edge Of The City (Channel4) Ill—11.55pm. The 50s Hollywood season continues with Martin Ritt's powerful debut feature. starring John Cassavetes as an army deserter who is befriended and helped by railroad worker Sidney Poitier.

I The South Bank Show (Scottish) 10.35—11.35pm. A profile of Irish poet Seamus lleaney.

MONDAY 28 '

I Dance Energy (BBCZ) 6.45—7. 15pm. The male Amanda De (.‘adenet. Normski. introduces more dancefloor sounds. including two rave DJs from Essex. Slipmat and Lime.

I Superscots (BBCl ) 8—8.30pm. Jackie Bird giggles a lot and introduces quarter-final hopefuls in the new-look Caledonian quiz.

I Desmond’s (Channel 4) 8.3(l—9pm. Return ofthe lightweight comedy set in a barbershop. Apparently its blend of folksiness and gentle humour go down a storm in the States. where it has a growing following.

I Cutting Edge: Repomen (Channel 4)

9— 10pm. A new series ofthe documentary strand opens with an intriguing look at the lifestyles of the repossession squads. the one business enjoying a boom in trade with the recession.

I Rumpole Of The Bailey (Scottish) 9~10pm. The fat lawyer returns for a new series. representing his newly disenfranchised company Thames TV in an action against the lTC. Actually he's defending a snobbish restaurant owner.

I Naked Video (BBCZ) 1(l—1().30pm. The comedy team get stuck into John Major. Jeremy Beadle (there’s a new target now) and Taggart. among the usual hit and miss gags-and sketches.

I The Gravy Train Goes East (Channel 4) Ill—11.05pm. Return ofMalcolm Bradbury‘s EC satire. this time sans Alexei Sayle. A small Eastern European state is determined to join the community. with the Brits. led by Michael Spearpoint (the ever-wonderful Ian Richardson). determined to stop them. The last series

suffered from being too self-consciously clever to be entertaining. Perhapsthe ' sequel will have ironed out this fault. j I A Restless Nation(BBC1) { ll). Ill—10.40pm. The analysis of post-war 1 Scottish politics concludes with a look at I the legacy ofthe Thatcheritc 80s. Kirsty u Wark presents.
