Edinburgh-based keyboard maestro Brian Kellock has had a strand of his own running through the current season of Now‘s The Time concerts from Assembly Direct. which culminates in this headline affair. 1t promises to be one of the most enjoyable nights of the entire season. and Kellock has chosen an intriguing line-up which shows some changes since the original publicity material was printed. Donald Corbett is on trumpet. Brian Keddie on trombone. Jimmy Woodson alto saxophone. John Foley on tenor saxophone. and Kevin MacKenzie on guitar. while Brian Shiels (bass) and Keith Halbanc (drums) replace the original rhythm section. Their repertoire will be drawn from classic tunes by Lennie Tristano. Oliver Nelson and Charlie Parker. arranged by Brian Keddie. The powerful Kevin MacKenzie Quartet. featuring Ronnie Rae Jr (keyboards). Rufus Philpott (bass) and Iain Copeland (drums). will open the gig in a more contemporary. fusion-flavoured style.
