I Charity Clubbing The next couple of weeks in Glasgow offer the chance not only to have a great night out but to do it all for a good cause. First up, The Arches theatre plays host to The Worm on 8 Dec. Organised to beneﬁt Scottish AIDS Monitor, it runs from 9pm—3am and tickets are £8. Rejuvination and special guests will join Slam‘s Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle and Dream DJs lan and Trevor.
Three nights later on 11 Dec at the Tunnel there will be a benefit for thirteen-year-old Adam Weir and the Yorkhill Unit where he is being treated for a rare form of bone cancer. lchi Ni San will stage a fashion show, i Marcha Fresca will ' provide the live entertainment and DJs from the Soul Cellar will provide the rest of the music. Also look out for the chance to win the likes of a Harley Davidson motorbike, an autographed Deacon Blue gold disc. haircut from Vidal Sassoon and an [chi Ni San jacket. Doors open at 10pm and tickets, priced £6, are available from Just The ticket, 23rd Precinct and lchi Ni San.
I Dove Date Hot on the heels of their Soma single ‘Fallen‘ being picked up by Boys Own, Glasgow’s Dove play a hometown gig at The Sub Club on 22 Dec — a date well worth checking out.
I The Vaults Work continues at Edinburgh’s The Vaults with a view to opening as a club venue early in the New Year. If licensing applications are successful, expect to see a number of Edinburgh‘s best clubs moving into the underground catacombs pretty sharpish. While The Vaults are not yet open to the public, they will be playing host next weekend to the filmingof The Orange Grove‘s first video to accompany their recently completed. and London Records- Ltinanced, demo.

Italo house. techno and upfront dance music in well-trendy atmosphere. Meanwhile in the smaller room a more laid-back (but not soul) atmosphere prevails.

Crash settles down tothe maturerthingsin life . . .like the Nolan Sisters?! The atmosphere these days reminds me a lot of the old Tuesday nights at Bennets. but with a lot more recent indie dance and pop. DJ Dave Ross recommends early arrival.

I Fuel at Joe Paparazzi. llpm—3.30am. £2. Well, the Love Club lasted a longtime. didn‘t it? Paul and Sean. late ofRumble. bounce back with a more studenty-oriented dance night. not so much ‘in yer face‘ as ‘get in yer pints'.with a laidback atmosphere and an eminently reasonable price.
I JuJu at the Sub Club. 1 1pm—3.30am. £4. New in-house night which will have to struggle out of the shadow of icon. with DJs Harri and Oscar (of Rain fame) playing funky rather than upfront dance. with live saxophone accompaniment and guest DJs.
IJungle at Rain. llpm-3.30am. £4 (£2 with matric card). Nick Peacock and Nigel Hayes run this new night. replacing Earth and going for an older, Sandino type crowd with funk. soul. jazz and Latin music.
I Matata at Rooftops. 10.30pm—4am. £3. Change of venue and day for the groovy African club. which plays danceable sounds from calypso. soca. juju and hi-life to makossa, mbaquanga and zaiko. Don‘t know what any ofthose are? Why not find out?
