Round a core oi Kenyans Azlz Salim and Zak Sikobe on distinctive, chiming guitars and vocals, with lead singer Bonl Wanda on bass, Tam Tamu, which means sweet-very sweet, were tormed In London in 1989. A horn section, keyboards and drums makes up the adventurous, driving eight-piece band which headlines the main concert oi the Glasgow Folk Festival weekend.

The Friday concert also sports David Allison trom Scotland and Gabriel Yacoub. The Frenchman has moved back in ‘Bel’, his latest album, to the lyricism or his earlier acoustic days with Mallcorne, the dynamic band who reconstructed French music through the late 70s and early 80s; and high levels or virtuosity trom both guitar soloists are guaranteed.

lnverness ceilidh rockers Wollstone take the stage lor the linal event oi this year’s Glasgow Folk Festival, which ends on Sunday 21 , all events taking place within the Tron Theatre, at the Trongate, Argyle Street. The Festival Club with live music is in the Tron’s Victorian Bar, open irom 6pm Monday to Friday, and lrom 12.30pm on Saturday and Sunday. A 2am licence has been applied tor. Festival Club entrance is £2 per night. The Charity Ceilidh/Dance scheduled ior Saturday night is in the Trades House, Glassiord Street.
