No festive occasion is complete without the rootsy and danceable Humpff Family to jolly it along. it appears, and they‘re in good company tonight. The current Kith And Kin material is more diverse than ever, with a strong jazz feel now mixing with their customary brew of reggae. cajun, rock and traditional music. A more mainstream four-piece from Glasgow, The Linden Tree made a stab at immortality with the single John Friendly on their own Headlong Records in 1990, and little has been heard from them since.

The Kleptomaniacs producing a chiming. jangling but fairly diverse mini-album and The Receiving End a more robust and highly accomplished EP which certainly deserves wider coverage than it‘s bad so far. Good double-bill.
I Elephant Noise Bertie‘s. Merchant Street. 225 2002. Midnight. Free. Possibly the last gig for this band after an endless round of showcases and record company near-misses takes its toll. Come and give them the send-off they deserve.

Support from Dundee‘s soft blues rockers Adam 812.
