circumstances at her death.
Marilyn Monroe: The Essential Recordings brings together classic renditions including ‘I Wanna be Loved by You’, ‘Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend’, ‘Some Like it Hot’ and the chilling ‘Happy Birthday Mr President’. The Academy-nominated BBC video, Marilyn and the Kennedys (Say
Goodbye to the President), meanwhile, is a disturbing documentary, the result at a three-year investigation, that links the lilmstar with key ligures in American political lile.

Louis Bunuel’s controversial Belle de Jour has been re-released in a brand-new 35mm print and is playing tor a week at the Glasgow Film Theatre lrom Monday 3—Saturday 8 August. Starring Catherine Deneuve, the 1967 lilm tells the tale at a sexually lrigid wile ol a young doctor who istoo kind and polite to lorce himselt on her. She, meanwhile, tantasises about humiliation and rape and eventually takes an afternoon job in a high-class brothel.
Blurring reality and lantasy and raising questions about what is erotic and what is sexually reprehensible, Belle de Jour is a milestone in European cinema. Edinburgh’s lirst-ever 24-hour Festival radio station goes on air on Sunday 9 August with a daily diet ol contemporary and classic music, lrom jazz to indie, lunk to talk, and a non-stop line-up ol top DJs and Fringe entertainers. Broadcasting on 100.4 FM, Festival FM will come live lrom the Festival Club, leaturing hall-hourly up-dates on the news, gossip and reviews lrom the world’s biggest arts celebration.
