DEPARTMENT OF PERFORMING ARTS AND VENUES

HEAD OF COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS £23,IOO-£26,000

Ref. O9/CI'I/08. To control the revenue generating activities of the Department including publicity, marketing, fund raising and sponsorship. Main responsibilities will include the management and develo ment of the Council's computerised ticket-selling operation wEich currentl has an annual turnover of around £8m; the identification of and/maximisation of income potential from all sources; the expansion of and marketing of venue hire and associated services; and the development of information services. The Department is intending to embark upon an ambitious expansion programme in relation to its box office services and requires a person with flair, vision and marketing expertise to lead the new operation. You will also be required to create and implement a marketing plan for each section in consultation with the Operations Manager concerned, undertake all media advertising, arrange for publicity material, and organise any in- house design work. The attraction of sponsorship and the development of ioint promotions will be an important part of the work. You will also act as the Public Relations Officer for the Department and will be responsible for monitoring the customer care plan.

GENERAL MANAGER OF HALLS

Ref. O9/CII/O9. To be responsible for the management, control and develo ment of 12 halls of varying size and scale throughout the City of glasgow, ranging from the City Halls, 0 major concert venue, to small communit halls. You will be re uired to mono e and control the halls egfectivel , to review t e usage of tchle facilities, and to create and implement a development lan for each hall. You will also be involved in the engagement ofartistes and shows, and in the promotion of events sta ed within the Department. The ability to produce to standargs whilst at the same time ensuring maximum cost-e fectiveness is essential. Strong administrative and financial abilities are required; together with flair and vision to identify and develop potential, and to lead and motivate staff in achieving ob'ectives. Previous experience in a similar capacity is essential and a relevant qualification is desirable.

Ref. 09/CII/02. Responsible for identifying, recommending, securing and organisin exhibitions and events in the field of visual arts as part of theTramway’s annual programme. This will entail researching and developing proposals, preparing budgets, raising finance, and determining appropriate ublicity requirements. Previous experience of mountin exhibitions in lar e spaces and working locally, nationally anginternationally int e visual arts is essential.

management of the Department’s computerised box office system serving the maiority of theatres throughout Glasgow, which currently has an annual turnover of around £8m and which is shortly to undertake a ma'or expansion. The post involves working irregular hours. Rrevious experience of a similar operation is essential and evidence of management skills and commercial expertise in a selling environment is also required.
