IN ASSOCIATION WITH GLASGOW INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL

MONDAY 5

I lit Garey’s Jazz Band Society of Musicians. 73 Berkeley Street. 221 61 12. 9pm-midnight. £2. Traditional.

TUESDAY 6

I Scott Hamilton and the Brian Kellock Trio Moir Hall. Mitchell Theatre. Granville Street. 221 3198. 8pm. £8. The current resurgence of mainstream jazz styles began in earnest with the emergence of saxophonist Scott Hamilton (and trumpeter Warren Vache) in the mid-70s. He began in a style which seemed to owe much to the likes of Ben Webster and Don Byas. but has developed as very much his own man. and has one of the sweetest and most accomplished tenor saxophone sounds in contemporary jazz of any variety. together with a fertile harmonic imagination which steers well clear of simple revivalist pastiche. Not to be missed. especially with our own Brian Kellock at the piano.

WEDNESDAY 7

Glasgow

I Sandy Taylor and Henry Fullerton Society of Musicians. 73 Berkeley Street. 221 61 12. 8.30pm. £1. See Wed 31.
