Fridays

I The Ark at The Tunnel. 1 1pm—3.30am. £5/£2.50. A special treat on 16 Apr in the shape of regional beats for the Sony Dance Music Search 1993. featuring PAs by Lorraine Cato and Rhythm & Bass in addition to the local hopefuls doing their best to impress the panel (and the punters).

I Big at The Sub Club. 1 1pm—late. £4/£2. After such a preposterously successful (and late!) opening night. the Sub‘s new venture has quite a lot to live up to. but your hosts Harri. Kilkie and Swan believe they can deliver the goods. With the full Elixir Vitae interior design crew behind them and some cheap beers to boot. they may just pull it off.

I Global NBG at Mardi Gras. 10.30pm—3.30am. £5/£2 with leaflet.

I Hustle at Level 8. Strathclyde University. 9pm~2am. £1 .50/£1. ‘Going back to go forward'. a night of funky disco and club classics with Paul M and Eurojay.

I Radio City at the Mayfair (Cameo Suite). 1()pmv-2.30am. £2. Well-known rock and pop classics in nice (if you like that sort of thing) and sleazy atmosphere. I Katch at The Cathouse. Studio 3. 10.30pm—3am. £3/£3.50. Popular indie club also appearing in lidinburgh on a Saturday night.

I Beds 10.30pm—3am. £3. Becks and Vodka £ 1/ all drinks £1 before midnight. ‘Chunky funk. deeliteful disco and groovy garage' which is proving so popular that they‘re opening half an hour earlier these days.

I Rock Garden Spin-midnight. Free. Pre- club pub with DJ Kevin (Reds) playing a mixture of garage. hip-hop. disco and

funk.

I Slam at Club Loco at The Arches. llpm-3.30am. £6. A serious night out with the Slain lads. featuring regular high calibre guests from down south.

I Shag at Fury Murry"s. l0pm~late. £-l/£2 before 1 1pm. As crass as ever and now featuring a bonus hour at the beginning of the evening with £1 pints and music which the DJs tell us they couldn't get away with during the rest of the night. Does that mean sortie tasteful

and credible tunes for a change? Probably not . . .

I Sonic The Indie Club at Rooftops (Secrets Lounge). 1 1pm—3am. £1.50 before 1 l.45pm/£2.50 after. lndie club (as you might imagine) with £1 pints of lager on lap.

I Under Ventura 8pm—midnight. Free. Funky rare grooves from Hamish and Jonnie to put you in the mood. A highly recommended warm-up for a more energetic night out.

I The Volcano l 1pm—2.30am. £4/£3. Busy mix of dance and indie tunes with Alan Ronald.

I Wax Factory at lndustria.

1 1pm—3.30am. £5/£3.50 concessions. Throbbing with hard-assed house on the dancefloor and grooving with hip hop in the chill-out. it's the most healthily balanced and well-adested club around. A little acidic madness finds its way in on 9 Apr however. in the form of a live performance by the legendary (but still quite obscure) Ege Bam Yasi.

Saturdays

I Cale loco at The Arches.

1 1pm—3.30am. £5. Continuing to spice up their regular club night with live performance. the Loco crew present excellent local funksters Elias on 10 Apr (plus guest DJ Jean Honeymoon) and The Kaisers on 17 Apr.

I The Cathouse. 10.30pm—3am. £3.5()/£3 with ticket. Sweaty rock club. now opening earlier due to extreme business! I Chaos at The Cathouse. 7—10pm. £2.50/£2 with leaflet. Under-18s dance club.

I Cleopatra’s 10.30pm—2.30am. £3.50. I Club Industria. 10.30pm—3.30am. £8 (same price on special guest DJ/band nights) Glasgow’s newest venue and loudest club sound system used to full effect by DJs Scott ‘n’ Paul. More special guests expected in the near future. so watch out for those posters!

I Club Xchange. 11.30pm—3.30am. £4. Gay club with upfront dance tunes from DJ Roddy Stewart.

I oivine at the Art School. 1 1pm—late. £2.50. The best in psychedelic/garage/sou1/60s in the Vic Bar. Vie for space on the teeming dancelloor orjust stand back and marvel at all those strange and beautiful people: a great time to be had either way.

I Dream Sequence at Rooftops (Secrets Lounge). 10.30pm—3am. £2.50. A good selection of indie-dance faves and a friendly vibe.

I Mo’ Jazz With Attitude at The t3ih Note. Spin—midnight. A rich and varied selection of soul and jazz courtesy of your host Steven Watt; from Patrice Rushen to Herbie Hancock to The Young Disciples —- and back again.

I Reds 10.30pm—3am. £6/£4 (£3 before midnight). Relaxed. friendly and increasingly popular club night with DJ Kevin‘s wild mix of disco. ftmk and housey tunes.

I Revival Reggae! at The 13th Note. 8pm-—midnight. £2. Treat yourself to an original Jamaican blues party -- the coolest club sounds of the 60s in a sweaty basement atmosphere.

I Strathclyde University Union 9pm--2am. £2.50. Students and guests only. Studenty feel to Level 8. very popular dance and techno in Reds.

I Atlantis at the Sub Club.

I 1pm—3.30am. £6. Still attracting a good (and discerning) crowd. Atlantis is Slani's longest-running and most successful

regular night. Submerge yourself in the choicest. warmest house club in town.

I Tankin’ at the Art School. 1 1pm—late. £2.50. Take the upstairs option on an Art School Saturday night and receive a generOUs helping of hot funk. reggae and hip hop from the resident ‘Funkateers‘. I Technotrance at Mardi Gras. 10pm—3.30am. £7.

I The Tunnel 1 1pm—late. £7/£3.50. Big upfront dance night for the hippest in town. with guest DJs Soul FunkTion up from Bradford and Leeds on 10 Apr.

I Blurt 2: The Son of Blurt! at Rooftops. llpm—3am. £1 before 11.30. £2/l .50 thereafter. 1 1 Apr only. An Easter Sunday special which promises ‘yet another night of gratuitous retrospection'. The flyer features a rather strange cartoon character and an A—Z (well A—W actually) of alternative and indie-type bands. so you probably know what to expect. Drinks promos and pissed students for a start.

I Bobby’s at The Volcano. 1 1pm—2.30am. £4. We know he's been hosting a successful club here for ages but more to the point. will he still be Number One this Sunday? Watch out for added ‘live ‘n' direct‘ attraction on 18 Apr. JC 001.

I Bubblelicious at Reds. l 1pm-~-3am. £3/£2. ‘Bombastic Boogie. Bubble Grooves' and £1 Becks. wine and schnapps at Sauchiehall Street's answer to That West End Club. A fine finale to your weekend.

I Cheapskate at The Cotton Club.

I Rock City at The Cathouse. l 1pm-3am. £1.50. Rock from the 70s to the present. I Rock Garden Spin—midnight. Free. Pre- club pub with soul and rare groove sounds courtesy of DJ Kevano.

Mondays

I Plggilly Viggilly’s at the Volcano. 10pm-«late. £2.50. Less self-conscious and more relaxed than the weekend. PV‘s still has tunes you'd find it hard to top on any night of the week. Serious fun and a good excUse for a long he on 'l'uesday morning! I The Tunnel 1 1pm—3.30am. £2. Gay Mondays.

10.30pm- 3am. £2. Legendary. dnmken. ‘mixed' (or should that be ‘mixed-up"?). longest-running club night in town.

I The Cosmic Funk Club at Reds.

1 1pmw3am. £2. A ‘fusiony. funky soul feeling'. plus live percussion from the Funkollective crew. A brand new night. I Go West at Cleopatra's. 10.30pm~2.30am. £2/£1 with ticket.

I Horizontal at The Volcano.

l 1pm-2.30am. £3/£2. ‘Top Jazz. Rare Groove lixponent' (it says here) Nick Peacock doing his level best to spice up a Wednesday night in Partick.

I Love Train at Cafe Cini. Renlield Street. 9pm—-midnight. Free. Selected beers for £1. Joe Deacon playing the best in classic soul. funk and piano house.

I The Swamp at The Cathouse.

1 1pm ~3am. £1. 1p more than Tuesdays here and probably proportionally more upmarket. A request night where anything can. and unfortunately will. be played.

I Sweet PM at The Tunnel. 1 lpmwlate. £4/£3. 21 Apr only. The radio station of the fttture (i.e. it's not actually started broadcasting yet) ups the pace with its biggest promotional party to date. featuring the very special Dean Thatcher up from London and local boys Stuart McMillan. Nigel Hayes and Gary Mclntosh. An interesting and potentially very tasty mix?
