The Botanic ASII Until 3 Oct. When a huge British Ash dating from the early 19th century had to be felled. sculptor Tim Stead was invited to recycle the pieces for this unique exhibition.

A look at the life of intrepid Orcadian explorer John Rae who explored and mapped vast territories of northern Canada. with the the help of the Native Indians and lnnuit. An exciting and diverse display ofjewellery designed and made by fourteen students and graduates of Edinburgh College of Art. All have been winners or finalists in the UK Platinum Award.

llllA Fingerprinting Until 24 May. An exploration of the material found in a cell nucleus which makes us all unique. This exhibition explains how this procedure can be used in forensic science and in medical research.

Western Decorative Art: 1850 towards 2000 New permanent exhibition. Cantagalli tiles.jewels by Picasso and Scottish hand-painted pottery are all included in this exhibition of porcelain. glass. silver. metalwork amd ceramics from the museum's collection. Spanning 150 years. the artefacts reveal changes in

taste and style with examples of the unique. the mass-produced and work by major artists working with large manufacturers.
