Fridays

I Crash at The Cotton Club. llpm-3.30am. £4/£2 with matric card. Good time indie-dance and chart pop with DJ Dave Ross plus those all-important drinks promos.

I Essential at Circa. l 1pm—3.30am. £5. I Global NBC at Mardi Gras. 10.30pm-3.30am. £5/£2 with leaflet.

I Hipsters at Blackfriars Underground. 8pm—1am. £3/£l with flyer. 21 May. A new evening ofjazz and soul with regular guest DJs planned. For the opening night there is DJ Chidi (Snipe) and Gordon Montgomery (Horizontal). with live funk being supplied by Tempus Fugit.

I latch at The Cathouse. Studio 3. 10.30pm—3am. £3/£3.50. Popular indie club also appearing in Edinburgh on a Saturday night.

I liadlo City at the Mayfair (Cameo Suite). 10pm—2.30am. £2. Well-known rock and pop classics in nice (if you like that sort of thing) and sleazy atmosphere. I lieds lO.30pm—3am. £3. Becks and Vodka £l/ all drinks £1 before midnight. ‘Chunky funk. deeliteful disco and groovy garage‘ which is proving so popular that they’re opening half an hour earlier these days.

I SI. at Club loco at The Arches. llpm—3.30am. £6. A serious night out with the Slam lads. featuring regular high calibre guests from down south.

I Shag at Fury Murry's. lOpm—late. £4l£2 before 11pm. As crass as ever and now featuring a bonus hour at the beginning of the evening with £1 pints

I Sonic The indie Club at Rooftops (Secrets Lounge). 11pm—3am. £1.50 before ll.45pm/£2.50 after. lndie club (as you might imagine) with £1 pian of lager on tap.

I Sweet FM on The Ark at The Tunnel. 10.30pm—late. £6/£3. 28 May. Sweet FM and The Ark join forces to hold a series of special summer events. For the first one they've got DJs Greg Fenton (Spacefunk. Manchester) and Angel (Venus. Nottingham). two excellent DJ 3 for what will no doubt be a packed first night.

I linder Ventura 8pm—midnight. Free. Funky rare grooves from Hamish and Jonnie to put you in the mood. A highly recommended warm-up for a more energetic night out.

I Vibe, The Feeling at RGs. 8pm—midnight. Free. Pre-club pub with DJ K (Reds) playing a mixture of garage. hip-hop. disco and funk. °

I The Volcano 11pm—2.30am. £4/£3. Busy mix of dance and indie tunes with Alan Ronald.

I Divine at the Art School. 1 1pm—late. £2.50.The best in psychedelic/garage/soul/oOs in the Vic Bar. Vie for space on the teeming dancefloor or just stand back and marvel at all those strange and beautiful people: a great time to be had either way.

I lieds 10.30pm—3am. £6/£4(£3 before midnight). Relaxed. friendly and increasingly popular club night with DJ Kevin’s wild mix ofdisco. funk and housey tunes.

I Revival Reggae! at The 13th Note. 8pm—midnight. £2. Treat yourself to an original Jamaican blues party the coolest club sounds of the 605 in a sweaty basement atmosphere.

I Shoosh at RGs. 8pm—midnight. Free. DJ Cristian playing a mix of dance. indie and house sounds to a very busy. mainly student crowd.

I Strathclyde University Union 9pm—2am. £2.50. Studean and guests only. Studenty feel to Level 8. very popular dance and techno in Reds.

I Atlantis at the Sub Club. llpm-3.30am. £6. Still attracting a good (and discerning) crowd. Atlantis is Slam’s longest-running and most successful regular night. Let yourself soak in the choicest. warmest house club in town.

I Talkln’ loud, Saying Something upstairs at lndustria. llpm—late. £4/£3. A new and expanding night with veteran DJ Tchico spinning Ragga. reggae. hip hop and a bit more besides. Queue to the left if you don't want to get caught up with the techno-heads downstairs.

I Tankin’ at the Art School. llpm-late. £2.50. Take the upstairs option on an Art School Saturday night and receive a generous helping of hot funk. reggae and hip hop from the resident ‘Funkateers'.

I Bobby’s at The Volcano. 11pm—2.30am. £4. Glasgow’s ‘Number One’ DJ continues to pack ’em in. All your favourite tunes and some very tasteful T- shirts too.

I Bubblelicious at Reds. 11pm—3am. £3/£2. ‘Bombastic Boogie. Bubble Grooves’ and £1 Becks. wine and schnapps at Sauchiehall Street’s answer to That West End Club. A fine finale to your weekend.

I The Ministry oi Sound at The Tunnel.

1 1pm—late. Price tbc. 30 May only. Top famous London types Tony Humphries. C.J. Mackintosh and Justin Berkman arrive in Glasgow to defend their Ministry against accusations of not in fact being the hippest nightspot in the land, but merely ‘a large warehouse in South-East London tarted up to look like a New York club.‘ Can they justify the hype? Only one way to find out!

I The Tomorrow People at Club Xchange. l 1.30pm-3am. £2/free entry to tank-top wearers. An outrageous new night featuring ‘jaunty' tunes from the 705 and 803 and fantastic flyers which describe the whole affair as ‘camper than John lnman'. Essential.

Mondays

I Plggllly Vlggilly’s at the Volcano. lOpm—Iate. £2.50. Unfeasibly huge tunes from DJ Kev and a dedicated party crowd well, the part-timers just don’t make it out on a Monday. do they?

I ZFD at Fury Murry's. 11pm—3am. £2/£l. Newcky Brown. Guinness and Diamond White all for £1 to the accompaniment of ‘classic tunes. bouncy dance and 90’s indie'.

I Horizontal at The Volcano.

l 1pm—2.30am. £3/£2. ‘Top Jazz. Rare Groove Exponent‘ (it says here) Nick Peacock doing his level best to spice up a Wednesday night in Partick.

I love Train at Cafe Cini. Renfield Street. 9pm—midnight. Free. Selected beers for £1. Joe Deacon playing the best in classic soul, funk and piano house.

I The Swamp at The Cathouse. 11pm—3am. £1. 1p more than Tuesdays here and probably proportionally more upmarket. A request night where anything can. and unfortunately will. be played. I llnder Ventura 8pm—midnight. Free. Reggae of the highest order with Joseph of Babylon.
