EDINBURGH FESTIVAL THEATRE TRUST

In June 1994 the [900 seat former Empire Theatre re-opens as the Edinburgh Festival Theatre. The £20 million transformation will restore an intimate and handsome auditorium, create the largest and best equipped stage in Britain and feature an elegant stack of inviting foyers and private hospitality suites.

Edinburgh Festival 'l'heatre's mission is to become the best presenting theatre in the United Kingdom. At the heart of the enter- tainment will be large productions for the Edinburgh International Festival. The Theatre will be the \capital‘s new arena for Scottish Opera and The Scottish Ballet. It will also present year round programmes of national and international opera, ice shows, ballet, variety, contemporary dance, light entertainment, epic drama, jazz, musicals, classical concerts, children's plays and circus.

We are now looking for four legitimate Thespians to join a collalmrative manage- ment team:

Each person will have several years‘ experience in professional theatre, under- taken some level of training and may have done a similar job in another presenting theatre. Significant work in a producing theatre would he an advantage, as would a knowledge of commercial and international theatre.

The salary for each position is in the range £23,000 'to £27,000

including an element of performance related pay. The starting date is mid-()ctoher I993.

The Theatre will be recruiting approxi- mately forty full-time staff. ()ther positions will be advertised early in 1994.

The Adam Smith Theatre is a 475 seat mixed programme venue presenting a lull professional programme includi Plays, Musicals, Variety, Opera, Ballet and an annuntfi Pantomime. The venue is also utilised by local amateur groups and is a R ional Film Theatre.

Your major duty wi be to assist the Theatre Manager in all aspects concerning the operation of the Theatre and act as deputy in her absence.

Your responsiblities will include liaising with the Manager in developing and marketin the Theatre, the hirin of suites and auditorium to ihe public and contra? of expenditure and outgoings in relation to budgetary requirements.

As well as general office administrative work, you will be required to undertake Front oi House duties when directed. This vacancy will appeal to a versatile and imaginative individual with a genuine interest in Theatre and Film. Excellent communication skills are essential along with a flair for organising and operating as rt of a team. You should have previous managerialmexperience in a theatrical environment. A current‘clea'n"driving licence would also be advantageous.
