I Made In Heaven at The Pelican. 10pm—3am. Free. Back to ye olde golden days of late night Pelican pranks. with DJ Simon playing a mix garage. house and a dose of funky stuff.

I Marley’s Beggae Kluh at Cavendish. llpm—3am. £3 (£2.50). The city‘s longest-running reggae club. Busy night guaranteed with a wide playlist of roots. ragga. lovers. heavyweight dub and dancehaH.

I Minus 0ne at The Carlton Highland Hotel. 10pm—3am. £5 (free for members). A relaxed. very plush venue for the more mature seekers of night life.

I Mo’ Flavour at The Citrus. 1 1pm—4am. £4 (£3). 6 Aug. Controllers Joseph and A- One playing the latest licks of street soul. ragga. swingbeat and hip-hop. With occasional top name guest DJs. the most recent of which was Femi of Young Disciples fame.

I 99 Club at The Music Box. 9pm—3am. £2.99. The 99 Club is now running weekly. with all pints and selected bottles and spirits are 99p. Music is funk. dance. chart and 70s from the regular DJs.

I Pure at The Venue. 10.30pm—3am. £7 (£5 members). Upfront. hard-edged. progressive. electronic sex music courtesy of the legendary DJing duo of Twitch and Brainstorm. 30 Jul only. A live set by Ron Trent (Chicago) and guest DJ Kenny Larkin (Detroit. no relation to Pop). 6 Aug only. Guest DJ for the night is the legendary Richard James of Aphex Twin fatne (and other projects too numerous to mention). be there early.

I Bed Hot Pepper Club 10pm—3am. £4. Mainstream and chart sounds.

I Rhumba at The Citrus. 1 lpm—4am. £10 (£8 with ticket). 6 Aug. The Rhumba returns and will no doubt be packed again. with the regular Rhumba DJs supported this time by DJ David Holmes.

I Squid at La Belle Angele. 9pm—late. £5. 6 Aug. The wonderful world ofJacques Cousteau brought to La Belle. with some damn fishy things afoot. including some wet ‘n’ warming ambient vibes working into a frothy frenzy of funky hip-hop fun.

Colin and Stuart (23rd Precinct) playing a mix of hot garage and underground house to one of the busiest and bounciest Friday night crowds. with occasional guest DJs (keep an eye out for Graeme Park soon). 6 Aug only. guesting on the night is Tom Wainright (Hacienda). Available for free hire on Mon and Tue. I Twiggy upstairs at The Calton. 10pm—3am. Free. 6 Aug. Indie and pop classics froth the swingin‘ 60s. with possible bands lined up for the near future.

A new weekly outing for the people who bring you The Banshee and The Monday Club. widening the scope of their usual sounds to bring you punk. indie. rock. heavy metal. goth. hardcore and just a touch of industrial. with other such weird and wonderfull sounds. 7 Aug. £3.50. live on the night are the excellent (loud and barbaric) Creaming Jesus.

I Carbolick Frolick at Ex-S. l 1pm—4am. £5. Now running weekly following the demise of Try Your Finger. with a mixture of rollicking good dance sounds. expect full Carbolick decor and an essential selection of sassy sounds. being played by DJs Scott Ferguson and Mr Williams. If you want in. then get there early as recent nights have been selling out faster than a very fast thing.
