Mysterious band. ostensibly from Manchester but basically citizens of the world, with a bewildering mixture of music they have been stitching together since 1978. If titles like ‘Acid Tablas’ light your candle, this could be where you should be tonight.

I The Situobhie Ilnhh Orchestra Maltings. St Leonards Street. 667 5946. From Aberdeen, bluegrass-based string- pickers with a collective energy that belies their acoustic influences. New album due out on Klub Records in late September.
