mixture of funkety funk, divine disco and roof-raising rare groove sounds. With new decor and a funkier feel to the whole evening making for a busy funfest of tacky sounds.
I Shldou at The Store. 1 1pm—3am. £2 with flyer. DJs Chris, Ollie, Colin and guests playing a heady mix of underground house, with some heavy, funky, acidic grooviness added for good measure.
I Sold 0n Paradise at The Pelican. 10pm-3am. Free. A beacon of sunshine in the Cowgate, DJ Simon spinning a mix of lovely music, including garage, soul, boogie and hip-hop.
I Static Age at Edinburgh Art College Wee Red Bar. 10pm—4am. £1 before midnight, £2 after. Back from some tenebrous nook comes a rigorous, vigorous blast of alternative sounds. Bad Religion, Fugazi, Culture Shock, The Damned, them’s the names to listen out for.

I The Sunday Club at Ex-S. 11pm—4am. £3 with ticket. Wonderful, wonderful gay night featuring male go-go dancers and some of the worst PAs you’ve ever seen. I TIelonlous at The Pelican Bistro. 9pm-lam. Free. The length and breadth of jazz, gathered in for a mellow(ish) evening.

I Gala Circus at The Store. 11pm—4am. £2. A new night playing some indie noise and American guitar sounds, courtesy of the le at Potato-head Productions.
I Club at The Citrus. 9.30pm-3am. £2. Note new venue. A night of excellent alternative sounds, with a playlist covering the whole spectrum of alternative music. The busiest and best of it’s kind.
Tuesdays
I Flltt at The Edge. 9pm-2.30am. £2. Weekly gay club playing a mix of dance sounds, hosted by the inimitable Placenta DuBois. Cheap drinks till midnight and good dance sounds, making for a fab night out
I SIltbe lite at The Citrus. 10pm—3am. Tue 2. £3.50 (£3 with cardigan (joke)). Featuring special guest appearance from Johnny Rogan. Chortle. Tue 9 is Madonna Nite, with special guest appearance by no one remotely connected with Grandma (© Smash Hits).
Wednesdays
I Miss at The Store. 11pm—3am. £2. Gay night featuring a bread mixture of pop and dance club sounds. 50p drinks promos on the night

10.30pm—3am. £2.50 (£2). Back again after it’s festival holiday and no doubt pulling in big crowds with a wide mixture of excellent music, including the likes of The Dead Kennedy’s, Bob Marley, RDF. Jethro Tull and a heck of a lot more. One of the best midweek nights around.
I Juice at Teviot Row Union. 8pm—1am. £2 (£1 with flyer). 70s, 80$, ragga, house and soul.
I love Stock at Century 2000. 10pm—3am. 50p with matriculation card. Century 2000’s busy student night with drinks promos.
I Teenage at The Citrus. 11pm-3am. £2. One of the busiest mid-week clubs, playing indie orientated dance sounds alongside punk, disco and funk, with drinks promos most weeks.
Thursdays
I Apocalypse at Shady Lady’s. llpm-3am. £2.50. Happy Hour 11pm-4am. Excellent ‘alternative’ club with a diverse playlist including industrial, techno, indie, grunge and thrash. Busy night with some superb sounds.

, promos and wackiness.

I Climbers Street Bock light 8pm-3am. £2 (£1). As the name suggests.
I Chocolate City at The Venue. 10.30pm—3am. £4 (£3 members). Thurs 4. Fortnightly. Longest established funk night in the city and the numero uno retro- funk club, with DJs John Porter, Jamie and A-One playing deleted danceable funky grooves upstairs and Whitney playing chill-out reggae, dub and jazz downstairs in the Cooler. Live funk on Thurs 4 from Captain Shifty. a new local eight-piece funk band.
