Out go the pseudo-noir narration and the tacked-on happy ending: in comes a ruore defined sense that Deckard himself may be a replicant. A (lashing young Swinging Sixties photographer ruay or may not have captured evidence of a murder on film. Tian‘s film tells it straight. where others. such as Farewell My ('oncubine have taken a rrrore metaphorical approach. and the result is an honest and moving account of a still sensitive issue. Ambitious and accessible work that finds a delicate. cinematic equivalent for the subtle slradiugs of in (‘ar'avaggio‘s brushwork.
