JAZZ maim-

Dates listed below are for one-oil shows: see separate section tor residencies. Gigs are listed by date, then by city. Pertormances will be listed, provided that details reach our oitices at least one week before publication. Jazz Listings compiled by Kenny Mathieson.

I Glasgow Jazz Record Club Unitarian Church. 72 Berkeley Street. 7.45pm. Singer Peggy 0' Keefe shares some ‘Memories'. Contact Bill \Vinter on 944 4402 for membership details.

I Suzanne Bonnar Queen‘s Hall. Clerk Street. 668 2019. 8.30pm. £8.50. £7 (£4). I suspect singer Suzanne Bonnar's much- publicised on-screen reunion with her father served as something of a distraction from her music. but she has bounced back in highly convincing fashion of late. and this tour will give her an ideal opportunity to consolidate that progress on Scotland's majorjazz stages. Her excellent band features pianist Brian Kellock. Phil Bancroft on saxophone. Kenny Ellis on bass. and drummer Mike Bradley. while the concerts will also feature a considerable extra bonus in the shape of a rare solo set from pianist David Ilewton. who is better known for his association with another Scottish singer. Carol Kidd. but is also a superbly inventive performer when left to his own devices.

I Suzanne Bonnar City Hall. Candleriggs. 227 551 1. 8pm. £7.50 (£4). See Fri 24.

I Thank You, Mr Gershwin Theatre Royal. Hope Street. 332 9000. 7.15pm. Tickets from £4. Singer Elaine Delmar leads a tribute to the popular music skills of the great George Gershwin (and brother Ira. who provided most of the lyrics). Trumpeter Keith Smith leads the backing band. but it is pianist Mick Pyne who catches the ear.

I Clusone Trio BBC Studios. Queen Street. 668 2019. 8pm. £7.50 (£4). This brilliant Dutch-based trio take their name from the Italian festival where they first formed the band. which has also been a quartet at times. Cellist Ernst Reijseger. expatriate American reeds player Michael Moore. and drummer Han Bennink make up one of the most irreverently inventive musical combinations currently extant. and their previous visits to Scotland have been genuinely memorable affairs. Not to be missed.

I Latin Carnival Assembly Rooms. George Street. 220 4349. 8.30pm-«3am. £10 (£7). It's party time at the Assembly Rooms with an evening devoted to Latin American music. Two highly regarded London-based outfits. Colombian Roberto Pla’s latin-Jazz Ensemble and Venezuelan Williams Cumberbath's Tumbaito. provide the live grooves into the small hours. with dance from Passo A Passo and The Edinburgh Samba School (and. of course. you lot out there as well). and a couple of Latino Dls. See preview.
