Mitchell Theatre. Granville Street. 8pm. £8 (£6) on door. Since the demise of the old Society of Musicians. mainstreamjazz has been poorly catered for in Glasgow. A group of former Society members have been missing it so much. however. that fifteen of them have banded together as the Jazz Co-op to try to rectify matters. The group intend to promote four concerts at year in the first instance. and are ready to underwrite any loss (the hoped-for profit would then underwrite future presentations) out of their own pockets. which is certainly a case of putting your money where your heart lies. They begin in the best possible fashion with a visit from the great saxophonist Scott Hamilton. If there is any justice. the place will be packed to the seams.
