Twenty years after the television adaptation was first shown. the programme is updated with new material arid clips from the original.

I Geiger Sweet, Geiger Sour (BBCZ) 8—9.40pm. Sub-titled ‘Tales from the Radiation Age‘. this new documentary launches the BBC’s season of atom bomb anniversary programmes. The impact of radiation is examined through the experiences of ordinary people around the world.

I Wyclilie (Scottish) 8-9pm. A 30-year- old skeleton is unearthed at an archaeological dig site. but the Cornish detective is on hand to investigate.

I Preston Front (BBCt) 9.05—9.55pm. Spock plays host to a group of German students on a trip organised by Dieter. who is more interested in seducing Ingrid in this T.A. comedy drama.

I Highlanders (Scottish) lO—l lpm. Sean Connery narrates this documentary to mark the 250th anniversary of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s attempt to restore his father to the Scottish throne.

I Stand By Me (Channel 4) 10—] 1.40pm. A young River Phoenix is one of four adolescents who go on a n'te-of-passage journey in search of the body of a dead teenager in Rob Reiner’s excellent adaptation of Stephen King's story.

I The Outer limits (BBC2) 9—9.45pm. A crooked businessman involved in a property scam is taught a lesson when a

mysterious alien woman visits.

I Travels With My Camera (Channel 4) 9—l0pm. Ellen Spiro takes her camcorder to investigate gay culture in some of America's most conservative states.

I The Tales of Para Handy (BBC 1) 9.30— l0.20pm. Three new adventures based on Neil Munro's much-loved stories. starring Gregor Fisher as the skipper of the old puffer The Vital Spur/r. with Rikki Fulton as the engineer.

I Shopping (B BC2) 9.45—10.30pm. Continuing exploration of the late 20th century's most popular pastime looks at the mail order business.

I Fatal Attraction (Scottish) 9-I 1.55pm (including News at Ten). Hugely successful thriller about a happily married man who has an affair with a possessive women who refuses to accept the fling is finished. This time the film is shown with the director's preferred ending. never previously seen on UK television.

TUESDAY 1

I Public Eye (BBCL’) 8—8.30pm. ‘Sex in the Dark' looks at whether those with AIDS have a responsibility not to pttt others at risk throttgh their own sexual behaviour. British AIDS organisations disagree about this ethical point. apparently.

I Nagasaki Journey (BBCZ) 8.30—9pm. This film. shown as part of ‘The Bomb‘ season. looks at the effect on the second Japanese city to be bombed irt 1945 through the eyes of two survivors and a US marine who occupied Nagasaki shortly after the blast.

I Witness (Channel 4) 9--lOpm. For years a Dutch woman has harboured the secret of her treatment as a Japanese prisoner of war. when she was repeatedly raped in an officers' brothel. Finally she tries to come to terms with the trauma by meeting others who had a similar experience.

I Ruby’s Health Quest (BBC 1)
