Saxophonist Phil Bancrott has been in New York recently. where he met up with his special guest for this week-long residence. drummer'Marcello Pellitteri. The pair will link up with bass player Steve Watts from London in an international trio which Phil says will be based in the jazz tradition (including their readings of some jazz standards). but will also work on the contemporary edge of that tradition. The residency launches the month-long festival programme at this excellent jazz venue. which will also feature the John Rae Collective. Sophie Bancroft and Gina Rae. Freshly Squeezed. The Eddie Severn Quartet. Dissentango'd. Coolgroove. Salsa Celtica. Lindsay Cooper‘s Free Underground. and Melanie ()‘Reilly.
