hory Weller gets the lowdown on Britain’s DJ wonder woman.

I Name Mrs Woods. real name Jane Rolink. aka Madame Dubois.

I Occupation DJ . producer. part time television and radio presenter. full time mother.

I How did it all kick oll? Started DJing in I990 at 'l‘urnmills. Six years later she combined the joys of motherhood with maintaining her position as ‘one of the ten best DJs in the country‘ (illuzik magazine) and ‘the number one female DJ in the world‘ (DJ/n Magazine).

I What does this wonder woman play to make her so loved? A whole heap of slammin' dance tracks. Techno is most important to her. but she goes for good 'quality. lighter hard house too. '

I What about her production credits? She got into the life of vinyl after releasing her ‘Mrs Woods Teaches Techno‘ compilation album in I993. After the success of this she went on to make her own music first ‘The Awakening‘. then ‘Whodunnit'.". before the top 40 chart hit ‘Joanna'.

I What’s she working on now? She‘s just finished her next single. ‘Road Rage‘ which she has released

Madame Dubois. Next up she‘s back as Mrs Woods.

I Why the dilterent names? The Madame Dubois material is really. really hard tribal techno that she says she has to get out of her system so she can get on with the ‘nice poppy Mrs Woods bit that makes money‘.

I What does she preter? "Techno is where my heart lies.‘ she says. ‘l‘ve been trying to shake the techno tag off for years. ever since the first compilation alburu. but I know it‘ll always be my first love.‘

Mrs Woods DJs at Love Boutique. The Arches. Glasgow on Sat 2 Nov. Her latest compilation ‘Bitter and 'lir'isred' (Wit/t Bht Peter) is oil! now on React records.
