Reef For those about to rock, we salute you. Heads down for some no- nonsense, hard boogie with a burst of hip-swinging gospel. Glasgow: Barrow/and, Wed 26 Feb.

Ray Brown Trio The veteran giant of the bass was in great form at last year's Glasgow Jazz Festival, and returns with another too-notch young trio for a not-to—be-missed one-off appearance. Edinburgh: Queen's Hall, Fri 28 Feb.

Snake Davis and The Charmers Saxman Snake Dths has graced a squillion pop and rock hits, but he is a mean player in his own right when he gets together with his regular band. Edinburgh: Tron Jazz Cellar, Wed 5 Mar.

Scottish Chamber Orchestra Special treats galore this issue with the world premiere of the fourth of the Glasgow Commissions by MacMillan and a recital of Barber's fiendishly difficult Violin Concerto by child prodigy, Karen Gomyo. See preview. Glasgow: City Hall, Fri 21 Feb; Edinburgh: Queen ’5 Hall, Sat 22 Feb.
