EDINBURGH CITY MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES TRAVELLING GALLERY

Edinburgh City Museums and Galleries has been awarded the franchise to operate the Scottish Arts Council's Travelling Gallery for three years. We now need a team of enthusiastic people to work with our own staff to provide a lively programme of exhibitions. primarily of contemporary art. to tour throughout Scotland. All the posts are offered on contracts which terminate on 31 March 2000, except the Driver, who will he engaged on a series of short term contracts linked to the touring programme.

TRAVELLING GALLERY ASSISTANT

Full Time, APZ (12,519 - £13.579)

You must have an HND or Degree. preferably in Fine Art. have worked in a museum or gallery or exhibition venue with the public. Experience in community education or teaching would be an advantage. You must have experience in the organisation of projects and knowledge of the contemporary art scene in Scotland. You must be able to monitor income and expenditure. communicate effectively. work as part of a team and organise programmes. You must have a valid driving licence. be prepared to travel throughout Scotland. including spending time away. and be aware of the equal opportunities implications of the work of the Gallery.

EDUCATION ASSISTANT

Part-Time (17.5 hours per week). APZ (£12.519 - 1313.579 pro rata)

You. too. must have an HND or Degree. preferably in Fine Art. You must also have experience of organising art-related activities. preferably for people of all ages. You must be creative. be able to work as part of a team. have good communication skills and be able to manage programmes. Experience of Community Education work or teaching. together with the planning and implementing of programmes of work would be an advantage. You must have a valid driving licence. be prepared to travel throughout Scotland. including spending time away. and be aware of the equal opportunities implications of the work of the Gallery.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Full-Time, G83 (£10,910 - £11,373)

You must have evidence of word processing ability. preferably using Ami-Pro. and be able to understand and interpret the range of exhibitions in the Travelling Gallery. You must have experience of administrative work. be able to communicate effectively. to work as part of a team and to prepare tour schedules. It would be advantageous if you had worked with the public. including school groups. if you had experience of providing administrative support to a complex organisation and were able to show evidence of an interest in contemporary visual art. You must have a valid driving licence. be prepared to travel throughout Scotland. including spending time away. and you must be aware of the equal opportunities implications of the operation of the Gallery.

DRIVER/GUIDE Short contracts, G83 (£10,910 - £11,373 pro rata) Firstly. you must have a clean PSV or HGV class lll licence. ln addition. you must be able to understand and interpret the range of exhibitions in the Travelling Gallery. have experience of working with the public and have an interest in visual art. You must also have experience of driving and ensuring the maintenance and security of an HGV or similar. be able to communicate effectively and be able to work as part of a team. You have to be prepared to travel throughout Scotland and spend regular periods of time away. You must understand the equal opportunities aspects of the work of the Gallery.
