LOOK OUT FOR these new releases, all on local labels: Andy Carrick’s 'Funk The Police’ (Glasgow Underground); Unit 2’s ’Keep Your Head Up', with Rainy City and Joey Negro mixes; Oscuro P’s ’Solefamily' (Sole Music); Hugoagogo's ’Bad Science’ (In Demand Recordings) and Fresh & Low's ’New Life, (Westside). Looking further ahead, Sole Music boss Stevie Middleton is putting together a ‘Sounds Like Glasgow’ compilation and Kevin Mckay is putting out ’Collection', an album’s worth of Musique Tropique remixes from the likes of 168, Two Lone Swordsmen and SWAG.

SOLEFUSION'S CRAIG SMITH is cranking up the pressure with a string of London appearances. First up is a set at the after-show party for Irvine Welsh’s Headstate play, followed on the same night by a return visit to Garage City, one of London’s finest nights. The Wednesday after that, he’s been invited by Ashley Beedle to spin at the launch party for the new Ballistic Brothers album.

They decided to put the exhibition on for the classic 'no reason at all‘ and chose to exhibit in Glasgow because it isn’t London. Meanwhile in Edinburgh, check out the TR808 exhibition at The Collective Gallery on Cockburn Street from 28 June. NEW CLUB BAR alert: Tin Pan Alley opens Yello in the space where Crawley's sports shop was. Plain minimalism is the theme of the place, which opens to the public on 25June.
