ALBUMS

Soma Volume 4: Various Artists (Soma) irrka

Retrospective of the last year's 12 in releases on Soma, proving them to be one of the country’s only labels which can combine quality releases and still ' stay true to the underground. 'New Soul Fusion', a collaboration between Jim Muotune and Stuart McMillan, is the stand-out track. Criminal it didn’t chart national Top Ten.

SINGLES

Digital: Goldie and Kits-One (firr) ****

Goldie gets busy with the infamous KRS-One in a return to form. Includes mix from Armand Van Helden in a dark mood, the one getting the airplay. Rock The Funky Beats: Natural Born Chillers (EW) H H *

Dark, hard, yet curiously sing-along rumbling drum 'n’ bass release. The '187 Lockdown' mix gives an easily accessible speed garage workout to the track.

Every Little Time: Poppers (VC) it Hi Largely a ridiculously cheesey track with ravey vocals only saved by the ‘Baby Blue' (aka Tin Tin Out) mix which slams in chest thumping bass beats that only JUSl compensate for the screaming diva. A Place 4 Me : Gene Farris (Soma) ****

Farris is best known for his releases on Relief and Force inc. The Soma release

finds him in Sneak mood with cheery phased out loops on the title track 'EW 7712’ and ’Pipepiper', then closing wrth the outlandisth simple 'Smoke Session Pause'.

Stomp: God's Property (Universal)
