Lives Glasgow, where he‘s just bought his own flat

Occupation House music fanatic, boss of Glasgow Underground Recordings. occasional guest DJ in UK and Europe, one half (together with Andy Carrick) of the Musique Tropique production and remix duo, record reviewer for Muzik Magazine and Update, sometime club promoter.

Main influences The city of Glasgow; house music from New York, Detroit and Chicago, in particular that of Larry Levan, Roger Sanchez, Derrick May and Larry Heard.

Previous form McKay grew up living between Largs and Glasgow. In 1989, [he found himself at The Sub Club in Glasgow where he discovered house. He started Dling at Strathcylde University Union, moving on to hold residencies at The Tunnel, The Voodoo Rooms and later Yip Yap in Edinburgh. Turning Point In 1994. McKay set up deep house label Musique Tropique on which he later put out eight singles. He then did a single as Glasgow Underground for lus Trax before launching a new imprint with the same name. Glasgow Underground Recordings has since unleashed fourteen releases. McKay and Carrick have also done remixes for, amongst others, 168, House Of 909 and Two Lone Swordsman. Last year also saw the release of the Musique Tropique Collection, a double album which featured some of the best Musique Tropique catalogue being remixed by the cream of the US and UK deep house producers.

Current Status Glasgow Underground now enjoys international recognition as far afield as Russia, Australia, France and Portugal. There are several singles in the pipeline, including ones from Musique TrOpique and Manchester's Alex Moan. McKay and Caran are also remixing Larry Heard for Distance Records and possibly Working with Romanthony, though this is yet to be confirmed.

Career highlights Bringing premier league American 035 like Deep Dish, Francois Kevorkian and Roger Sanchez to small venues in Glasgow for the Kensitas Klub Club events.

Future plans To develop Musique Tropique as a live act.
