It’s electric, That’s what the Judges of the National Lighting Design Awards thought of this colour-changing lighting scheme for the Scottish Power sub- station at Dewar Place in Edinburgh. Created by Edinburgh-based designers Jonathan Speirs & Associates, the former ’eyesore’ has been made to look so cheerin futuristic that it won the Budding/Structure Lighting category in the Awards. Who said the future's bleak?

Ines Sastre, star of Antonioni’s Beyond The Clouds and current face of Lanccbme, drops into Scotland for this year’s Italian Film Festival _ In The Best Man, she plays a young woman who is so unhappy about her forthcoming wedding, she's hoping her fiante's best friend can become her saviour The film, by veteran director Pupi Avati, was chosen as Italy’s contender for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars, and heads up a strong selection of Italian pretriieres. There's also a short retrospective of Cinema Paradiso director, Guiseppe Tornatore.
